If you’ve gotten this far reading this article, you probably have some interest in the IR Iran national team, or you might just do about anything to consume information about middle eastern culture. In the meantime, here are five things to know about the IR Iran national team:
Their History in The World Cup
The IR Iran national team have qualified for the FIFA World Cup five times but never advanced past the group stages – This year will be their sixth time qualifying for the World Cup. However, as mentioned, they have been quite unsuccessful in the competition in the past. In fact, they’ve only won two World Cup games in their history in the competition. They will be hoping to go further in the competition this year, by at least trying to reach the round of 16. Iran have been tied in a difficult group, so the odds aren’t in their favour. However, their performances in the qualifiers were somewhat impressive and promising. This gives hope to the side. If they do manage to advance, it will be a massive and historic achievement for them. The national team has also had a heated rivalry with Saudi Arabia for years now. So, if these two teams somehow end up head-to-head in the later stages of the World Cup, it’s going to be just as exciting as when going online to play Amatic games at Platincasino.
The Way They Qualified for World Cup 2022
The IR Iran National Team qualified for the FIFA World Cup, and they were one of the first teams to secure qualification in January 2022, topping the Third Round Group A table with 25 points. This was just 2 points ahead of the South Korea national team that placed second. Before this, they even managed to top the Second Round Group C table with 18 points, just a single point ahead of Iran. It was a close one in both World Cup group qualifiers, but Iran really don’t seem to be playing around this year!
The Key Players for World Cup 2022
The key players for the side this World Cup are Sardar Azmoun, and Alireza Jahanbakhsh. With 40 goals for the national team, Azmoun, the Bayern Leverkusen forward, will certainly bring his A-game to the World Cup. He’s an important player for the Persian side and played a key role in helping them qualify for the World Cup. The same can be said about Feyenoord's winger, Jahanbakhsh, whom we hope to see explode in the tournament. These two players will be key for Iran in their quest to make history this November.
The Current Manager & His Tactics
The current manager of the IR Iran national team is Dragan Skočić, who has been managing the side since 2020. He’s been quite a success and is probably one of the best managers in national team’s history. Skočić is a Croatian professional football manager and was also once a professional football player in the past. He’s been a manager for quite a few years now, starting his coaching career with Rijeka in 2005. The Croatian comes with a lot of experience in the game, managing several sides. As of late, Skočić has two preferred formations – The 4-2-3-1 & 4-1-4-1. Although before we’ve also seen him use the 4-4-2 formation to link Sardar Azmoun up with Mehdi Taremi. Therefore, we cannot exactly say which formation Skočić will be utilizing this World Cup. It mostly depends on whom he has at his disposal, and who would be on form mostly. Formations can change due to circumstances, and football changes quickly nowadays.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the 2022 Iran National Team side is one of the strongest Iran teams in history. This is thanks to their players, coaching staff, and supporters. We believe the team is more than capable of making a historic step up this tournament with hunger, sacrifice, and passion on the pitch. They also have good mix of experience and talent on their team. Lastly, if the key players perform to their potential, and Skočić makes the right tactical decisions, Iran could make a deep run at the World Cup and write their names into the history books.
