Real Madrid vs Liverpool: Will Salah finally take revenge?

Salah

Real Madrid and Liverpool are set to lock horns in the Round of 16 of UEFA Champions League and football lovers will wait for Mohamed Salah’s performance.

The draw ceremony for this round of competitions was held on Monday, November 7, and in one of the big clashes Liverpool will take on Real Madrid.

The two teams have met two times in the final of the Champions League in the past five years and Real Madrid has been the ultimate victor of all encounters.

In the final match of the 2017-2018 season, Salah was substituted early in the game after sustaining an injury from a fierce clash with Sergio Ramous. That game ended 3-1 for the Spanish side. The forced substitution probably was a key moment for those who had been engaging in sport betting that night. Thousands of people had for sure visited betting platforms such as Betway and other sports news websites to find tips prior to the game.

Last year, when the two teams found out that they would meet in the finals, Salah said “it is revenge time.” However, he and his team failed to score any goals because Thibaut Courtois had a magnificent night at Stade de France.

Real Madrid brought home the 14th Champions League title that night with the sole goal of Vinícius Júnior.

Salah has scored seven goals in this year’s Champions League so far and jointly tops the best scorers list with Kylian Mbappe.

The 30-year-old has also netted six goals in the Premier League in the past 13 games which shows that he may need extra efforts to find the edge to defeat Courtois.

Some three months remain until the match and both teams have plenty of time to make preparations. For sure, the readiness of key players such as Salah as well as Liverpool's bogeyman Karim Benzema should be closely followed by those who want to try their chances on platforms such as Betway.

On the other hand, Los Blancos seem determined to defend their title ahead of the big match but the team and players seem in no hurry to officially talk about this game.

Some reactions to the draw

Jürgen Klopp, head coach of Liverpool, said all should be “excited” about this tie.

“This is a tie that speaks for itself and one that we should all be excited about,” he told the English club’s website on Monday.

He noted that the two-legged tie can act to the benefit of the Reds because “we have Anfield and everyone knows what this means.”

Meanwhile, the Spanish side players are reportedly “not bothered” by the draw and believe it is “fair”.

“The draw hasn't gone down badly in Madrid's locker room, the team's mood is that it’s fair,” Spanish journalist Jose Luis Alvarez said, Daily Star reported. This mood is mainly because the Los Blancos have been unbeaten in their past three encounters with the Reds in the Champions League.

Salah and his teammates will host the Spanish side at Anfield in the first leg on February 14, before having a trip to Santiago Bernabeu on March 7.
